The Peelers’ Hike By Kevin on 6 October 2019 (updated 6 October 2019) In Beavers, Cubs, Events, Featured, News / 0 comments Sunday 31st March 2019– The Peelers’ Hike, Scout entries 23 or 15 miles from Bury and Ramsbottom District Scout HQ, Millett Street, Bury, BL9 0HQ (GR SD 798 106) via Elton Reservoir, Affetside, Peel Tower, Holcombe Moor, Helmshore, Irwell Vale, Summerseat and Burrs country park. 15 mile route omits Holcombe Moor, Helmshore and Irwell Vale. Start times – 8.00 am for walkers; 9.30 am for runners and those on the shorter walk – Entries in advance £9.00, including refreshments at some CPs; hot meal at finish, certificate and badge. The 15 mile route is suitable for older scouts and Explorer scouts although in poor weather conditions the route will be reduced and adjusted. There is of course opportunity to retire at most of the check points when transport back to the start will be arranged. Places should, if possible be booked in advance although with prior arrangement payment can be made of the day.
